STL file processing and milling

Bosio Dentistry Solutions receives from the laboratory, dental office, or professional the digital file resulting from an intraoral scan or digitization of the dental impression via scanner.

The laboratory professionals process the file using CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software for 3D modeling, obtaining an STL file.

The latter will be sent to a milling machine for the creation of three-dimensional objects with CAM technology.

The milling can be done on zirconia or lithium disilicate according to the customer’s needs.

Once milled, the zirconia prototype must be sintered while the lithium disilicate one crystallized.

The last step will be the finishing, staining with glaze, to transform the prototype into a real dental prosthesis, totally similar to the patient’s teeth.

Zirconia

Zirconium oxide is a rigid material with high tolerability, strong resistance, and low thermal conductivity (reduction of dental hypersensitivity to thermal changes). Zirconium oxide is also naturally transparent to light and light in structure.

After the milling process,  zirconia undergoes a thermal process called sintering. The latter will result in changes in its chemical structure from monoclinic to tetragonal. With this step, the zirconium oxide assumes all the definitive physical characteristics.

Sintering involves shrinkage of the material that can reach up to 25/30%. The software takes this shrinkage into account by oversizing the STL file.

Bosio Dentistry Solutions uses zirconia with a high abrasion point, similar to that of natural teeth assuring greater comfort and safety to the patient.

Perchlorate discs are available in all primary colors allowing you to imitate even the most difficult color combinations.

The solutions of Bosio Dentistry Solutions range from the most simple and economic solution for restorations that do not need a high aesthetic result, to the more defined one, with the addition of a ceramic-coated vestibular veneer for an even better aesthetic result.

Lithium disilicate

Bosio Dentistry Solutions uses IPS e.max®, the original lithium disilicate glass-ceramic for monolithic, front veneers, and dental inlays.

Its properties are many, including excellent mechanical characteristics, high strength, wide processing tolerance, and extraordinary aesthetics.

The work begins with the choice of the block based on the degree of translucency, and color to adapt perfectly to the natural aesthetics of the patient’s teeth.

Once milled using CAM technology, the lithium disilicate is crystallized or heated,  creating an identical characterization and glaze of natural teeth.

The results are excellent, with high flexural strength and high reliability for many years.

Temporary restorations in PMMA

PMMA temporaries are a complete solution for the fabrication of conventional and implant-supported temporary restorations.

Bosio Dentistry Solutions uses resin blocks and discs for the efficient realization of long-term temporary projects with the CAD / CAM technique.

The material is subject to finished milling and finished with hard metal cutters, discs, and brushes.

The pre-polishing takes place with rubber pads and silicone wheels of different grades of abrasion, while the mirror polishing is carried out with brushes and polishing tools.

The technical characteristics of the material have very high performances both in terms of flexion, elasticity, and hardness.

Thanks to the CAD / CAM realization, the replicability of the treatment is guaranteed and, with personalized aesthetic finishing.
